Not a brochure. Not a platform. A person who has been there.

Wanderon started from a simple frustration: every luxury travel agency we encountered was really a booking platform with a nicer typeface. The recommendations were the same. The itineraries were the same. The "exclusive" properties were on every shortlist. The concierge you spoke to had never been to most of the places they were selling.

We wanted something different. Not broader — deeper. The kind of agency where the person you speak to has actually slept in the villa they're recommending, met the chef whose table they're booking, and knows which weeks in Japan to avoid because the crowds change the experience entirely.

So we built it. Starting with nine countries, a short list of properties we've verified personally, and a commitment to saying no when the answer is no. Wanderon is not for every traveller. It's for travellers who know what they want and are tired of being sold something that almost fits.

We're based in Melbourne. We work with clients across Australia, New Zealand, and Southeast Asia. We don't do volume. We do detail.


Three things we won't compromise on.

  1. Depth over breadth

    We have relationships in nine countries, not ninety. Every destination we sell, someone on this team has visited in the past three years — not to tick a box, but to verify that the thing we're recommending still works.

  2. Candour over comfort

    If a destination isn't right for you this year, we'll say so. If the experience you're imagining doesn't match the reality of where you want to go, we'd rather lose the booking than give you a trip that disappoints.

  3. Access, not just booking

    The difference between Wanderon and a booking platform is not our interface. It's the contact in Kyoto who takes three new clients per year, the chef's table that doesn't appear online, the healer in Ubud who works by personal introduction only.

Ligil John founded Wanderon after a decade working inside the luxury travel industry — first as a specialist with one of Australia's leading concierge houses, then independently across Asia. He has personally stayed at, or visited in a professional capacity, every property and retreat Wanderon recommends. His approach is simple: he will not sell you a trip he wouldn't take himself. Based in Melbourne, he works across Japan, Bali, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Thailand, and the Maldives — and has spent meaningful time in each.
